MSN Consumer Guide (Robert Christgau)

Maybe this album is dumb on the surface, though not as much as fools claim. But sure as showbiz it isn't dumb underneath.

Billboard

The acronym that forms the title of their latest stands for "The Energy Never Dies," and they more than make good on that promise, blasting through 15 high-powered rave-rap jams that rarely lack for melodic hooks or rhythmic thrust.

Entertainment Weekly

Group mastermind will.i.am's attempt at social commentary on 'Now Generation' comes off more like an ''I just got DSL!'' laundry list. But when the group's glitchy future-funk beats sync up with Fergie's unabashedly feminine melodies, as on the sweetly insidious 'Meet Me Halfway,' they find pure Top 40 nirvana.

Rolling Stone

As often as not the results are dumb. And that's an awfully good thing.

Vibe

While The E.N.D may be the farthest The Black Eyed Peas have ventured outside traditional hip hop, the final product proves the group is best at creating their own conventions.

Los Angeles Times

Most of The E.N.D. doesn't ask too much from those fans. Its more substantive musical and thematic statements are interrupted by many others showing the Peas' deep, deep commitment to a good party.

The Guardian

Many of these electro-pop-rap tracks sound as though they were recorded with DJs in mind, rather than fans.

Boston Globe

There are some fun songs on The E.N.D., but the Peas would've been better served by putting a little more thought into the words that ride the beats.

PopMatters

Black Eyed Peas, at this point, have left the socially-conscious party raps of their past completely behind, in favor of club hits and the type of radio fodder that’s going to be filling the airwaves all summer long. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, if that’s what you want.

All Music Guide

The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) is a mess of pop/dance/rap crossover.

Slant Magazine

Tere is only so much will.i.am can do to buoy a group that, lyrically, does an end-zone dance for successfully counting back from 10 and operates musically on an even playing field with this guy.

RapReviews.com

Whatever made this a substantive and interesting group a decade ago has been completely lost in the process, but if all you care about is dancing and partying then take their word for it.

Prefix Magazine

It doesn’t challenge listeners or give them anything unexpected or even asked for, really (who's waiting around with bated breath for 'Ring-A-Ling?'), but it’s already a certifiable hit.

Dot Music

If the "Energy Never Dies", as Black Eyed Peas' acronymically-titled fifth album has us believe, why do they continually sound like the most tired, idea-less group on the block?

Matt C gave it a5:
Never been a fan but after being assaulted by their singles every day this summer is was hard to not at least check it out. The singles are catchy, obviously made as throwaway pop and if that is all your looking for it does it's job great but the album as a whole is weak and will be forgotten as soon as the last single is taken off the constant airplay.

Mike P gave it a9:
Don't listen to Micheal H. about the lyrics, while some songs do have bad lyrics others have great ones like One Tribe, Boom Boom Pow, I Gotta Felling, and a few more of their songs.

Shawn P gave it a9:
I loved it, out of all the songs (15) I liked 9 which for me is a lot seeing as how I usually only like about 3-5. Whats wrong with the people giving it anything less than a 7.

M. vZ. gave it a10:
Best album I've heard in years! Just give it a try and be open for new influences. This is wicked!! Can't get enough of it.. They deserve what they are doin on the charts right now, breaking a 50 year old record!! More than 20 weeks number one with BBP and IGAF!! Love the album.

Michael H. gave it a9:
Though lyrically terrible, the music makes you move and want to dance. Definitely the best album from the band, even though it doesn't showcase the best of Fergie.

Michael K. gave it a2:
This album can hardly be described as music.

stephanie k. gave it a9:
I like their new sound. Normally I'm not a big black eyed peas fan.. but i really like this one
