Games Radar (in-house)

To be sure, NCAA Football 10 is less about major on-field adjustments, and more about expanding the game’s universe. An ambitious list of new options headlines this year’s effort, and most are welcome additions that’ll make you think twice before trading it in the day Madden hits stores.

NCAA Football 10 is the complete college football experience, it has the depth, the style, and the substance that fans have been looking for. For the first time in years I am happy to report that the upgrades in NCAA Football 10 game were enough to make for one of the best NCAA Football titles in years.

Year after year, the NCAA Football franchise has been improving to a point where it can no longer be seen as “Madden’s Little Brother” or a simple NFL Football appetizer game. NCAA Football 09 was certainly one of the most interesting titles in the franchise but NCAA Football 10 has now surpassed it. It still has a few minor annoyances but overall, this year’s game is worth checking out.

ZTGameDomain

NCAA Football 10 is no doubt the best college football game I have ever played. This year's outing still doesn't take the series to the next level like some were hoping it would (and it appears that Madden is doing), but it perfects the formula as much as possible.

The features are there, and I’m glad that the on-the-field play is making strides forward and that it captures the excitement of a college football program that isn’t dominant, but which is more than capable of thrilling its fans.

This is a more polished version of last year's game with some solid feature additions.

PSX Extreme

To the hardcore, NCAA 10 is worth the upgrade with its all new Road to Glory mode, in addition to the mini-games, the teambuilder, online dynasty, and so forth. Certain aspects of presentation are lacking, such as the commentary, but the game does make up for it with great stadium roars, and authentic marching band introductions.

Gamer 2.0

NCAA Football 10 isn’t really going to bring much that’s significantly new to any part of the game over its predecessor, but it does feature a well-polished game for those that are fine with that that makes it worth a purchase.

Game Over Online

In the end, many of the same problems that plagued last year’s installment still exist, but that shouldn’t stop college football fans from buying this year’s edition of NCAA Football. The gameplay is still fun. It may not be Madden but this is still a must own for college football’s biggest fans and casual fans alike.

GamePro

NCAA Football 10 is like an above average college football recruit: it plays hard, keeps its nose clean and eventually gets drafted in the second round. It doesn't make ESPN's Top 10 Plays segment on a weekly basis nor does it rack up the jersey sales but it works hard in the trenches and is a great locker room presence.

With solid, yet incremental, improvements on the field since last year, college football fans will certainly appreciate the more balanced game NCAA 10 puts on the field.

Worth Playing

I stuck mostly with the on-field stuff, and it was solid enough for me to keep tinkering around with rivalries, tradition and the spread offense. But it won't make fans of the pros change their allegiance.

In the end what you have is gameplay that is as good as it has ever been – not perfect and still with some frustrations but clearly NCAA 10 is the most respectable version of this series to date.

Despite the new animations, new moves, and features, this year's model plays a lot like last year's game, with very subtle, often ineffective changes. [Sept 2009, p.79]

D W gave it a6:
I had high hopes for this iteration of NCAA Football. However, the terrrible AI, buggy glitches, and strange commentary are inexplicably worse than last year. Players will often clip through each other, through the referees and through walls. Defensive backs will warp to the ball with inhuman speed. The same facts and team introductions are used as in past years. The presentation has been slightly improved and there is a seemingly nice option to define your play strategy as "aggressive," "normal," or "conservative." DO NOT use the aggressive option. There are no benefits, and it is basically volunteering for even more turnovers and penalties than normal. Without competition from other game-makers this franchise disappointingly continues to spiral downard, and I will not be foolish enough to give them another chance. This buggy turnover-and-penalty-fest is a complete fumble!

Ben S gave it a7:
Always a quality game and thankfully not too many swing for the fences changes from last years game. However, the cpu defense was tweaked too much. CPU will blitz 95% of plays, and jam WR's on 95% of plays. It is not easy to stand in the pocket and wait for your WR's to get open when an all out blitz is coming on every down. The jamming goes beyond the 5 yard limit as well and they are not able to run the proper route. I understand the attempt to make the CPU competition tougher to beat, but there needs to be a better way than making them blitz all the time. Also, the tip balls by the defensive lineman is a bit too much as well. On the rare occurrences you have an open look the D line will swat away your pass.

Cory gave it a9:
Just an overall awesome college experience. Season Showdown looks to be great fun. I can't believe the "experts" give it a lower score cause it "can't compare to madden". Rate the game on it's own merits. Oh well, if you loved '09, then you'll love '10 even more.
