An awesome game, and exceptional fun. If you're a fan of "Dune II" or "Warcraft" then this one will be a winner.

An adrenaline rush in a box...Everything about this game shouts quality.

Playing the entire conflict in the role of the other side makes for twice the gameplay value, and I don't even want to think about what's going to happen when the six-player networkable version comes out. Highly, highly recommended.

All Game Guide
This is such a fast paced game and there is so much action at any given time on the screen that keeping up could give you a slight case of carpal tunnel syndrome!

First video/computer game I ever played, and the one I'm most sure never to forget. I can still remember some of the gameplay music.... I can't imagine what the genre would have been without it. Go Joe!

It's hard to believe that it has been over ten years since this game, and yet the gaming world still has yet to recognize what made this game so good. Things that seem obvious today. First - it was a well rounded package that didn't rely in gimmicky graphics or ride on the heels of a predecessor. Also it had well balanced but strategically divergent factions each with their own immersive plots in single player mode. This should have set the standard for rts(instead of carbon copy, tit for tat style "factions" in many rts games). Multi-player over LAN or dial-up modem gave the game real replayabillity. The game featured full motion video cutscenes and briefings featuring real actors. True, most wouldn't win an oscar for their performances but the overall experience doesn't suffer for it. Possibly the most memorable part of the game is the music. While simple by todays standards, the soundtrack is very well arranged and feels appropriate to the style and attitude of the game, aiding the immersion. EVERY fan of the rts genre should at least give this game a try, despite it's age.

a classic game but is it worth a 10 ? in my opinion yes it is, I first played C&C on the Sega Saturn when it was first released I hired it from a rental shop and was instantly hooked, I stayed up all night playing it and when I returned the game the following day I instantly purchased a copy. Technically speaking C&C wasn't the first game in the genre ( Dune 2 was ) but C&C was definately the breakout RTS game it gave the genre mass appeal and a lot of exposure. Over a decade later I played through C&C once more courtesy of EA's free giveaway and it's just as playable as it ever was. True it hasn't got looks or all the added features of more recent entries in the genre and the AI may be a bit stupid but the core gameplay has stood the test of time remarkably well. So that's why it's worth a 10 not only was a it a great game when it was first released and an all time classic in it's own right but it remains so even today nearly a decade and a half later.

How silly I felt when I told my father that I didn't want to play this game... So one day I reluctantly played a mission... and another... and another... and, well you get the picture. Even by many of today's standards the game is amazing. Hopefully one day, EA will remember that (!Westwood Studios!) and not EA LA is the true creator of C&C.
Mark J gave it a10:
To give everyone an accurate representation of this game. It is 2008 and while playing graphically intensive titles like Company of Heroes, Crysis, and Far Cry 2, I still play this game. Command and Conquer Gold is one of the the rare video games that treats you like a intelligent being capable of understanding realistic scenarios in which global military intervention is necessary.
Daz L. gave it a10:
An absolute quality game which turned RTS upside down. Kick starting one of the most successful and entertaining franchises in gaming history.
Will I. gave it a10:
The original C&C shows the level of amazing game design capable on the lowest of systems. It is without any question that C&C is a benchmark RTS. It not only shows how an RTS should play, but defines RTS design, and the very future of the genre.
