Summary

The Rebel Alliance has won the Battle of Yavin, as Luke Skywalker, with the help of Wedge Antilles, has blown up the Death Star. But there is little time to celebrate, for the mighty Empire is gathering its strength for a determined, all-out assault on the Rebel forces. In Rogue Squadron, your missions will take place during the time period between Star Wars: A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. Wedge Antilles and other Rogue Squadron members will be your wingmen on your missions, which will range from rescue and reconnaissance to search-and-destroy-and more. You'll take on the Empire in air-to-air dogfights and air-to-ground combat over the far-flung planets of the Star Wars universe. As you improve your skills, you'll be able to pilot more advanced craft, fire more powerful weapons, and fly more challenging missions. [LucasArts]

This is a title that no self-respecting N64 owner should pass up. Nintendo has created the first true N64 classic since "Mario 64."

To say that the Snowspeeder freak in me is satisfied with this game would be an enormous understatement. This is one hell of a fulfilling interactive experience that plays and plays and plays.

If you're a Star Wars fanatic and you own an N64, then you can't afford to be without this game. If you''re not a Star Wars fan then still buy this game because it's the most exciting, most gripping shoot-'em-up on the N64 so far.

Rogue Squadron is truly a great game. It has almost everything going for it, graphics, sound, gameplay, & the whole Star Wars theme. Only the semi-repetitive missions and the occasional slowdown mar it. If you are a Star Wars fan or an arcade shooter fan, this is a must buy.

Before you run down to the store and get your copy, do yourself another favor, get the 4 meg. Ram upgrade as well. You will not regret it. The Hi-Resolution mode in this game is incredible. Awesome.

While the one-track gameplay isn't enough to challenge GoldenEye as the best movie game on the console, Rogue Squadron definitely emerges as a shining example that not all licensed games are quick attempts to get your hard-earned money.

The designers heard everyone say that their favorite part of "Shadows of the Empire" was the first Hoth level, so they made an entire game out of that concept. Not a lot of depth, but a heck of a lot of fun.

Rogue Squadron is right up there with the other great N64 space shooters such as "Star Fox 64" and...um...well, buy it anyway. Great stuff.

It's hard not to get excited when you see your wingmen engaging the enemy just so you can take out a specific target! Factor in the constant radio chatter and rousing orchestral soundtrack, and you have a game that effectively draws you into the Star Wars world.

Overall, Rogue Squadron is a good mission-based shooter. The mix of levels really keeps the pace of the game fresh and exciting. Any fan of the first level of "Shadows of the Empire" really should check out Rogue Squadron.

Rogue Squadron doesn’t quite work as well as it should. Frustrating, repetitive gameplay and eye-straining graphics hurt this title quite badly. In fact, I doubt that it would score so highly if it weren’t for the Star Wars license.
