Summary
The third-person perspective action in Resident Evil 2 takes place in Raccoon City, where a flesh-eating virus is turning the town's citizens into zombies. Controlling either Leon Kennedy or Claire Redfield, players must avoid the zombies' bony fingers as they explore the town's huge 3D environments. The game differs depending on which character you choose, and things you do as Leon can impact the storyline when you replay the game as Claire. To get the most out of the game and witness all of the awesome cinema scenes, players must endure the horrifying gaming experience more than once. [Nintendo]

Resident Evil 2 is not just a great game, but also proof that the N64 can do the supposedly impossible when developers put their minds to it. An incredible achievement.

Resident Evil 2 for Nintendo 64 is, quite frankly, the best version of the game anybody living in the US is going to get. It boasts improved visuals thanks to the 4MB Expansion Pak, enhanced high-resolution mode and smoothened out pre-rendered backdrops with no jaggies.

I can't say it enough: Resident Evil 2 for Nintendo 64 looks and sounds amazing. Aside from a few very minor flaws, RE2 is one of the best N64 games this year. If you own an N64, buy this game.

It's about time Nintendo 64 gamers got a chance to survive the horror. Capcom finally brings the PlayStation classic to the Nintendo 64, and they've done the impossible. The problem is that the N64 isn't quite the best place for this evil to take residence.

If you have an N64 and you by some freak of causal virtue haven't been exposed to the grim, visceral cosmology that is Resident Evil, I urge you to check out Resident Evil 2. The N64 port holds up in stellar form, and it's packed with moments both atmospherically spooky and downright drop-the-controller scary.

Those that have yet to experience RE2 are missing out. Especially those in love with Acclaims Shadowman should appreciate this game. Its a mature game with visuals to rave about and game play not far behind.

This is what a PlayStation to Nintendo 64 conversion should be - enhancing the original to make the most of the new host machine.

Even though it has cheesy voiceovers and story, it can still send chills down your spine. I'd definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes the other Resident Evil games or anyone who's looking for a fun, exciting game.

A huge improvement over the first title, RE2 succeeds in making you feel as though you're in the middle of a horror film - one in which you'll jump many, many times. If you've already played the PlayStation or PC versions of RE2, there's really no reason to buy this game, but for N64 owners who haven't tried yet, it's an absolute must-have.

A polished game that is a totally new experience for N64 owners. Capcom has done a great job with this RE2 port. My greatest complaint is the abbreviated length of this title and it's PSX derived control scheme.

N64 owners yet to experience the delights of the Resident Evil games should put this on the top of their shopping list. Tense, thrilling, well-designed and addictive, Resident Evil 2 has it all.

Nintendo 64 owners have reason to be scared. At long last, Resident Evil 2 sinks its teeth into the system. With a high graphic violence quotient and chilling zombie horror reminiscent of Night of the Living Dead, Resident Evil 2 is not for the faint of heart. Rather, it is for the survival-horror enthusiast with a taste for action and blood.
