Summary

Soar into the wild blue yonder with this stunning flight sim/action game from Nintendo! Choose one of six aviators and tackle increasingly difficult assignments to win your wings: Beginner's Class, Class A, Class B and, finally, Pilot Class. Winning your Pilot Class wings will require you to successfully navigate 24 tests. Basic vehicles include the Hang Glider, Rocket Belt and Gyrocopter. Score well on your way to a license and you can open up four bonus games. Parachute in Sky Diving, sprout wings and fly like a bird in Birdman, and bounce high in Jumble Hopper. You can even try to hit a distant bull's eye as a human Cannonball! [Nintendo]

Simply flying around and admiring the scenery is an enjoyable enough pass-time. When you get serious with the game, it's demanding but fair, constantly pushing you further in mastering the various craft and the environment.

The best part of Pilotwings 64 is exploring the four islands. You'll not believe just how huge the islands really are and, because certain elements are hidden at first, it'll take you months to see everything.

This was a well designed game that was rushed a bit. Another month of development and this game could have been better than Mario (well, a month's a rough estimate).

A great game -- a little light on action -- but nevertheless a break-through title.

Overall, there's not much to this game, if you can call it a game. If you're looking for a game with a point or a plot, keep looking.

Starfire gave it a10:
An amazingly relaxing experience- the music, the sense of flight, the changing skies and weather. I have yet to see anything match it, as even though I don't like simulators, I love flying this way. It shows just how revolutionary the N64 was, I hope more people get to try it, maybe on the Wii.

Silent Ninja gave it a10:
When the first mariokart game came out for SNES i liked it then when supermario 64 came out i loved it!

unMourned gave it a 10:
Played this game when it came out--and still think of it to this day. Great graphics, GREAT simulation...what a great flying experience. I'd buy a N64 just to re-live this experience. No flying game this good has been recently released for a console or PC.

Bob gave it a 9:
Pretty tough stuff. BUT IT KICKS ASS!!! WITH A CAPITAL ASS!!
