The best looking, most fluid portrayal of football you can find. [A: Sept 2002, p.50]
GamePro
The game is a little more tuned toward hardcore players since there are few playcalling aids once your squad lines up a scrimmage, unlike "Madden NFL 2003" which displays play overlays to help you remember what to do.

This might not be the year that Sega's series tops Madden in the sales charts, but we might look back at 2003 as the year Sega's NFL 2k3 became the better game.

Despite being the weakest graphically of the three versions, Sega Sports' NFL 2K3 for the Gamecube is a great football game.

NFL 2K3 delivers just about everything a football fan could want. There's a deep franchise mode, the gameplay is excellent, and the ESPN license has been integrated quite well.

A football game arguably more feature-rich and detailed than the legendary Madden. Both games are amazing, but NFL 2K3 is a nice change of pace if you've been glued to the Madden franchise for years.

"Madden 2003" is still the king this season, and NFL 2K3 will have to be second best for one more year.

A little rough around the edges, and not quite as polished as EAs product.

To be totally honest, in my opinion the GCN controller is and always will be awkward for sports games. If the controller isn't a problem for you or if you find it awkward but can deal with it, you will enjoy NFL 2K3 a lot.

Almost on par with the Madden series of football games. They are getting ever so close with the graphics, game play, sound, and presentation.

Tight controls and realistic touches - such as weather and fatigue - make NFL 2K3 a touchdown for sim fans. [Sept 2002, p.163]
