I also think the regular series is in a downward death spiral and does not capture my interest as must-see TV as much as it originally did. That being said, this movie is excellent. It was largely new(er) characters from the Pegasus, but I thought it was very well done, riveting, and it helped bridge the knowledge gap between when we met the Pegasus on the series and how it got there. Extremely well done!

Amazing in every way. If you like Battlestar you will be trilled with this movie cuz it has everything!

This show suffers far too much from a series of long flashbacks. Also, since the events take place well before the end of the last series shown, it's effectively one huge flashback with some flash-even-further-backs. Every element in the story is already known, bar one - but that is not revealed until the end, so it appears as a feeble attempt to shore up interest in the upcoming series rather than actually contributing to the story of Razor in its own right. The newly introduced character is likable enough to keep viewers interested, and the direction and effects are up to the fairly high standard of the whole series. Unfortunately, at no point does the viewer become fully engaged with the characters, and at no point is there enough tension in the story to make one wonder whether the good guys are going to make it this time or not.

It's hard to judge Razor as a standalone film since it is bridging a gap between seasons, though more 2 up till 4 than anything to do with season 3. Overall, I have to give it a 9. The acting was great, the storytelling although flashback heavy was top notch and a was more of a throwback to the earlier seasons which was nice to see. The story was brutal, with hard and ugly decisions that make you both love and hate the characters. The present time line portion of the story involved a mission we were not aware of until now, and the ending wasn't certain. The big revelation wasn't that Cain was a lesbian, it was something completely different on the Cylon ship involving a major character and their role in humankind's fate. It left me very excited for the final season.

Not only was the pacing of the story nauseating, the character development nonexistent, and the drama lame, the story suffers from the audience knowing how the story MUST end. The only surprise Razor brought was the knowledge of Admiral Cain's sexuality, which is such a pitiful excuse for a plot twist that personally-- knowing that season 4 is the last season and this is how they spent their time putting together a 2 hour mini-movie-- I will not bother watching another episode, or buy another item. This disappointed on all levels, and I was such a huge fan until Season 3 and the decline (there were still a few priceless episodes that I think deserve another viewing in season 3, but for the most part, that's when the series started losing my loyalty. And with Razor, they've finally cut the cord.) WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Razor would probably be better off if it was 4 hours instead of two (or maybe I'm just craving some more bsg?). It would have been nice to get a little more information about the new characters and story, but it is still a must see for bsg fans.

In a show that has been nearly universally excellent Razor stands out as just being below par. The original Pegasus episodes are among the very strongest in the series and this falls far short in terms of script, characterisation and drama. The dialogue is stilted and the characters underutilised. Galactica is among the best things on television, sadly Razor isn't.

I have been hooked on Battlestar Galacta, and own all of the DVD's that have been released to date. However, I absolutely hated "Razor" and would not recommend it to anyone. Very poor character development, and it jumped around from past, present and future too much. I was expecting the storyline to be more in line with developing the story of Pegasus from the Cylon attack until the point where it met the rest of the fleet. It was a disappointment.

A solid, well-made episode of Galactica. It fleshes out some of the past seasons events, but I have to say it doesn't really tell us anything new. Overall, an 8 out of 10.

Razor has a very well thought out narrative that doesn't lose you, even though half the movie is shown in flashback.

Like all BSG episodes, Razor manages to be entertaining and thought-provoking. By flashing back to the series beginning from a different perspective, we are reminded of what is at stake and how topsy turvy the universe is that BSG operates in. The only flaw is that the most fascinating character doesn't survive it all, but it is a satisfying and interesting self-contained morality tale that adds a richness to what we all ready knew about the Pegasus. And not to mention, it was cool to see the retro Cylons!
