I loved this show..and never missed a single episode at all...I wish that they would have kept this show on the air. I think its time for a network that will show nothing but canceled shows that audiences enjoy.

The intellectual standard must not always be met to deliver an entertaining piece. This show, it one such case. While diverting from plausibility at times each episode is consistently entertaining with a charismatic leading cast. It's a fun hour to have with enough curious plot twists to tickle the imagination. It's a simple, honest show that deserves to be en joyed for the purity of what it is. A good program.

My 9-year-old son and I happened to stumble on the Surface just this year on the re-runs and we are both very disappointed that it only made thru first season. WE are bog fans of the Stargate and that is canceled too. Some people mentioned Lost-- Lost had me lost, it felt like too complex to follow. Maybe Surface was too simple for the critics, but it sure made sense. I am so sick of getting hooked on the show and have the network cancel it. And, no, Sci-Fi channel won't pick it up either, they really don't care about the fans. It is really too bad!

Its so captivating that my whole family fell for it! It was so good! It is the best series our family has seen in a long time,to bad we found that out by buying the dvd! WOW now we want more! This show ROCKS! I don't know anyone that could sit through one episode without wanting to see more! This show is a big hit! BRING ON MORE!

I just watched this on DVD. I cannot believe a TV-Show of this quality even made it to network TV - and then cancelled. Everything about this show was done right, great acting, effects, pacing, cinematography, EVERYTHING. BRING THIS SHOW BACK!! If not on NBC then some other network, please.

If you're looking for so-called 'sci-fi' miniseries,i prefer you to watch Stargate SG-1.And if you're looking for mysterious and thrill one,i bet you should see LOST or Prison Break .Everything about this show is quite predictable,no stunning scene,..with the pretty silly dialogue..and one more thing..please use high quality FXs..this is sci-fi,rite?

This is one of the best shows I have watched. The suspense was awesome you knew somethings were going to happen but you didn't know if it would turn out like you thought and it didn't. I really hate when networks cut a show after only a few episodes or even a year you leave people haning.

This show was one of the first TV series I could sit down and enjoy in about 5 years and trust me i've tried. It was original, innovative and though it didn't seem like it could have lasted longer tha none more season, another 15 episodes could have told the conclusion to the story. We missed out because the Winter Olympics hit, that like life is not fair. 30 episodes have finished many of my fav. shows, Cowboy Bebop is one of them (yes its a cartoon but it didn't need 2000 episodes like the simpsons.) if anything a Mini-series event should finish out the conclusion.

The show has some good special effetcs. But one character polutes/destroys the whole show. Its that enoying kid that took care of that little creature Nim Nimrod ?, it all smells to much ET !!! (lack of fantasy) . The character seems so stupid, for one example he doesnt tell anybody about the creature, and dont even tell others other weird stuff that happends. Im going to stop seeing this silly show.

I love this show. I was extremely upset to find out that the show had been cancelled. I watched every single episode of the first season. The characters were interesting and the graphics were very upscale for television.

Pretty entertaining. A little heavy on the Spielberg cloning, and I'm not crazy about the "ET phone home" story with the kid and his alien pet that the evil government is after, but the overall plot is moderately engaging. The so-called "science" is laughable (e.g. calling an egg-laying amphibian a "mammal"), but hey, it's Hollywood, right?

While the show does lack a little bit in the acting department, I still "like" the characters in that I actually kinda care what happens to them. Thats hard to do especially given the wild story line (which is the main strength of the show). It is cheesy. It has cheep thrills. But neither of those comments are meant to be negative. Its not trying to be a serious movie, its a sci fi action/suspense romp. I certainly hope they pick up a season 2. What I tell people about this show is that its like a good sci-fi novel. I can't wait to see the deeper motivations and corruption that spawned the monsters and.... is Rick's Bro Alive?

This show had more surprises than "Lost," and is actually based on real science. This type of speculation about the impact of science and technology on nature is the best of the science fiction genre. Surface is a fast pace drama that offers food for thought.

I think that critics look too hard for what's wrong, instead of giving it a chance first. all of my family and friends loved this show, and were disappointed when it was canned. what a shame. i still hold out hope. the plot has a lot of potential, the effects are good, and the characters are genuine people you root for.

I love this show. I can't believe it's being cancelled. I used to laugh when Jay Leno makes fun of NBC BIg Wigs on why their ratings are bad. Now I agree. What's wrong with this show? It was exciting, had a great plot, focused on current environmental issues. The characters were normal everyday people. I can only hope that another network picks it up.. This was a very enjoyable Sci-fi. It may not have been feasible, but it sure makes you wonder what the human race is doing to its own environment!! Critic's never cease to amaze me in their utter ignorance. And it also never ceases to amaze me when really GOOD shows get canceled, like this one. NBC should be ashamed of itself and the critics who gave this a bad review should be fired. I found this show brilliant, engaging, well-acted, fabulously cast, gung ho, straight edge sci-fi BLISS. I'm guessing it was simply TOO smart and escapist for the ignorant masses of reality TV show watching general population ~ the kind of people who lack in imagination or intelligence. I really hope the creators try to get the Sci-Fi channel or someone else to pick this show up and move forward with it, because it was absolutely brilliant.

In spite of the rare negative comments given by the sour grapes whose opinions of bad acting and plot lines stem from their own inadequate and jeolous lives, I found Surface to be refreshing, captivating and inventive. We watched as a family. My kids and I loved the show. We could not wait for the next week. I was interesting and different. Everything on the tv today is about murder, law, sex, and being gay. This is a GREAT show and I don't care what critics say. 1st of all they have been know to be wrong MANY TIMES and we're going to base decisions solely on 39 individuals. I think you should let the views decide, obviously you can clearly see that there is a loyal following and it's growing. Give it the time and respect any show deserves compared to all that reality garbage that's out there... for we need a change! The show is great and I enjoy it tremendously!

Surface was the only show that ws different from, doctors, investigators, lawyers & reality shows. Nimrod is endearing and watching his responses to being with Miles...the two love eachother. I and all my friends, including those on the internet love Nimrod and wnt him back.

This is the best show that NBC has put out in years. It has captured the limited attention span of my wife (not a scifi fan), three sons (ages 13, 12 and 12), and me (a young baby boomer). NBC has got to get its act together!!!

Fantastic Show which caught my eye considering i rarely watch TV, however i have trouble finding it again as the last two times it has been on a different times and this week it is on neither of the previously times and seem to have disappeared altogether. It started of slow and fairly corny but then grew into this amazing story that kept us guessing. The last episode was truely on of the best things I've ever seen on TV, I'm still trying to get my heart rate back down. Here's hoping for season 2 and a DVD release soon.

Ignore the know-it all, seen-it-all critics and professional cynics. "Surface" has great storytelling and is consistently well acted and written. This is a great deep sea mystery/conspiracy yarn that maintains multiple suspenseful storylines with just the right mix of action and human drama. Lake Bell is (surprise!) terrific.

Some of the absolute worst garbage I've ever seen foisted on the public as "science fiction." The idea of ancient giant reptilian seamonsters threatening the world isn't the worst idea, but everything about the rest of the show is just flat awful. Of COURSE the government is killing people to cover up something that obviously can't be kept covered up. Of COURSE there's a couple plucky people who manage, against all odds, to find proof of the seamonsters. Of COURSE a kid finds an egg from of one of these creatures and *GASP* forms a special bond with it. Etc. etc. etc. The only things more cliche than the lines are the characters (evil government man running the cover up, outcast kid hiding a mysterious creature from everybody, blah blah blah) and virtually every line of dialogue is clunky and unconvincing. The special effects are also obscenely substandard for this day and age, even for a TV miniseries, with heavy use of dark, murky underwater shots to gloss over obviously cheap computer effects. I'm not a big fan of Spielberg, but comparing this show to pretty much ANYTHING he's ever made would be a complete insult to him. If there was any justice, the very next episode would end the series, culminating in the destruction of the world of such stupid, shallow characters.

What do the critics know? Of course it's far fetched and at times, most of the time, unbelievable, after all it's Sci-fi! I recommend it, it's a good watch for the entire family.

Great effects. Story line interesting but takes place in too many places. The submarine construction never would work esp at that depth. Savannah is hot like to see her in a more steamy scene. Very good but needs refining....Get rid of the attraction to holes and spinning water...corny

There's essentially three different story lines working at all times on this show. (1) the government cover-up, (2) the sexy protagonist & pal trying to figure out what's going on, and (3) the teenager who adopts an infant creature. Although #3 is a stinker, #1 and #2 are very good. I highly recommend it!

The actors on this show have lost the will to act. The raft scenes had me slack jawed in amazment at the bad acting. Good story aside from the stupid owner love pet aspect. VFX slipping alongside the acting.

In the era of Survivor, multi CSIs, etc., etc..... this is one of the more original shows on at the moment. Any SciFi appears to borrow from other SciFi. Science is science. It's in how you spin it. As for Miles, I'm waiting for he and Nimrod to meet up with either the government agent or Laura. Odds are Nirmod recovered from the gunshot. And I want to see the eggs Mile's boss brought in start to hatch! ;-) A better than average show!

I think this is pretty good except for the whole Miles story line could have been eliminated, it seems the writers are too focused on Miles relationship with Nimrod. Are they trying to make a child star of Miles ? It also seems that they can't write more interesting dialog for Rich, he seems to say the same things over and over, " My brother is still alive.", " I talk to my brother." and keeps seeing visions of the hole.

Sometimes I like a show that I can sit back and enjoy. This is one of them. I notice a lot of my friends and some people I don't know spend hours discussing the events of each episode. To me that is the sign of a successful series. I notice a lot of the reviewers don't like it much, that is another sign of a successful series. I only hope the Pate brothers keep the script tight and don't have too many contradictions like the X-Files did, for instance. Give us good and interesting clues, make sure there are logical answers to situations like the crew disappearing from the Topeka, etc. At least this show gives us something each episode not like Invasion.

Once this E.T was closely encountered, it showed jaws. But nevertheless, this multiple Spielberg-ripoff works. And is easily more enjoyable than its competitor "Threshold", which is an insult to an audience who likes the science in science fiction.

Since the X-files series wrapped, there has been no good SciFi on the tube. SURFACE seems to be a cross between Jaws and E.T. and has several likeable characters. It can be slow evolving at times, but I rank it better than INVASION but less cerebral than THRESHOLD, having more of a fantasy feel than a thriller. I have gone out of my way to follow this show.

This is an excellent show. The best of the new sci-fi offerings. Much better than all the reality garbage that litters TV today. Unlike Invasion, where we are yet to see what the darn creatures look like, this show reveals a bit more of the creatures each episode. While it does borrow from other scifi movies, the overall story is quite original.

Science is all wrong (well, 75% of the time).... the kid plot smells of E.T... the story line mimics Close Encounters... the entertainment is in laughing at the story and the dialogue. Don't get me wrong, its entertaining, but in a train wreck type of way. I think it would be better if they drop Bell's son, and the entire "baby alien" in the hands of spoiled rich kids plot and concentrate on the rest of the show. Anyone who thinks this is anything close to a 6+ show doesn't need to be handling a remote control.

Great concept, both suspenseful and thought provoking. Characters need to be fleshed out and some gaps to be filled but hopefully the network will let this show grow. Critics missed another one but the fan base should grow and appreciate a good sci fi offering.

I think this is one of the better showings of new premiers in a while. It has good dialogue, good character development, and has enough of a story 'spread' to cover a variety of ages. I think Carter Jenkins is doing a great job and should be commended. I have been looking forward to the way the seemingly random sightings and reports have been building to a place where some of the characters will eventually come together to take this to the next level. Overall I think this is a great show with a lot of merit. Cheesy? I don't think so. I think it delivers exactly what people look for in television... a chance to escape from the everyday mundane into a life of excitement. Surface is definitely much deeper than the critics have given it credit for.

I've been a fan of Spielbergs for a long time and I look forward to tracking the crators of this show Josh and Jonas Pates careers. Hopefully this show will last a few seasons. You know, it's funny how this show was so thoroughly slammed by the critics. And yet, all the signs seem to indicate that it will outlive all of the season's other one-word-title-sci-fi dramas. While Threshold and Invasion are already stagnating, this show is a consistent pleasure. Sure, it was created by folks who got their cinematic education exclusively from the likes of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, JAWS and THE ABYSS. But they've learned well, and they've managed to bring a sense of big-screen adventure to the 1-hour TV serial format. The pacing is brisk. The tone is just right, not self-important and not smirky. The dialogue is snappy. The set pieces are unusually imaginative for TV. Add in some very appealing characters (Ferguson's take on Richard Dreyfuss' everyman especially), and you've got a very endearing show. What if the science is bunk? There's always Nova for that, and good as that show is, it doesn't exactly set the pulse racing the way Surface consistently does. Check it out yo'.

The critics are wrong. Though not a high mark in TV drama it is the best new show of the season. Now that might not be saying much but I find in one of the better over all well done TV shows in some time. Filming, character development, plot lines. Now you have to buy into giant sea monsters but thats what Sci Fi is about.
