Ernesto gave it a10: Really good, its POP but yet you can sense he irish, just love it
dave h gave it a10: a beautiful record. Title song is their best ever.
derick e gave it a10: A great album from this multi-talented family band
Diozen O gave it a10: The best ever!
Niko S gave it an 8: Much better than their previous album "In Blue". A record that appeals to all ages. Pop-soft rock very well writted and performed. The irish touches are just great. Its well worth a listen.
raVencall41 gave it a 7: Not their best - but is, nevertheless, better than many. Of their albums, this one least hilights the instrumental virtuosity of the siblings, (for that buy "Live In Dublin") and I guess the best way to describe the disc as a whole is that it seems to be the group's most American release. In terms of pop music, I don't think that's really a good thing. The lead-off hitter, "summer sunshine" bears a close resemblance to former smash "breathless," but is shorter and sweeter than its overplayed predecessor. "silver strand" is a good closer, but the true gem of "borrowed heaven" is its title track, featuring Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The final third of it ascends on a killer harmonizing of the chorus chant that makes you wish the whole thing was touched with the same South African magic.
Dan P gave it a 9: The lyrics are from the heart. The music is a fusion of europop, U2 and traditional Irish music. If you "get it," you'll love this CD.
Jimmy N gave it a 9: Still showing the ever so enigmatic and lively Corr-ish trademark. They have also matured to another level, but what this means in return is that they are showing signs of aging. (sigh)
scott k gave it a 10: excellent album-great songwriting!
Jim O gave it a 9: Infectious pop fun! The Corrs continue to be one of my favorite band for great harmonies, multiple pop styles and that touch of Irish fiddle.
bryan a gave it a 7: this is not my type of music. but nyway it sounds NICE. this is the type of album which grows on you as you play it. the first i heard, i thought it sucked. i like even if and hideaway. the corrs are on a league of their own. is there any other band like the corrs? i mean with the irish sound and the violins? none i guess..
Kerim E gave it an 8: This Album is definetly one of the greatest I have purchased this year. With Lyrics so close to home I have developed a real conection with the artist and music. Gold Star!
Seán C gave it a 10: Clean Cut Album full of Emotion. Well composed Pop record with the right Traditional influences. The Corrs have returned to their original sounds.
Micah gave it a 10: This is a thoroughly enjoyable album from start to finish. True, it's not offensive or in your face, but it wasn't intended to be and--contrary to popular critical belief-- that's not a bad thing. There is room for all kinds of music and I have certainly made room for this accomplished and diverse pop album in my music collection. "Borrowed Heaven" features the Corrs using their Irish touch and sweet harmonies with a number of other musical influences in an invigorating collection of songs. The album's spiritual title track and the moody track "Baby Be Brave" are particular highlights on an album that is replete with them. It's too bad "Borrowed Heaven" is getting ripped by critics because it deserves better, but since it's not "hip" or "cool" to like The Corrs I guess it too be expected.
Sam O gave it a 7: Harmless and vapid but undeniably catchy and listenable. Escapist, bubblegum pop at its best.
Cactuar Chocobo gave it a 9: Excellent album! The group looks set to stay for a long, long time, indeed.
daniela a gave it an 8: Good Album. Not so good and original like their first, "Forgiven, Not Forgotten", but still been good, in their own way, in a horrible Pop Music World. That's a difficult thing. Good Corrs.
Michelle gave it a 10: To address a comment from "Dot Music," the reason this album sounds well written is because it is. "Borrowed Heaven" is a wonderfully diverse and textured album that manages to evolve the Corrs' sound without sacrificing their trademark harmonies and Celtic influences. The quality is unwavering throughout, making it a complete album that tells a full story in 12 songs and not in random singles. It's The Corrs' best studio album since "Talk on Corners."
