Itsy gave it a6: Huge disapointment from the rest of the pro evo series, nothin new just the same. Ref gives every minor contact a foul! I notice that if you pick a corner to shoot in the ball goes straight in no great curl just minor bit of curl.

Ben L. gave it a4: Its a sad day, but having played PES 5 consistently for months, dropped down the difficulty from 6 to 3 stars, tried tactics, learnt tricks, playing keep ball, i have to admit this game makes it far to difficult to score. I'd love it if there was something i was missing and it was me who was rubbish, but its just no where near as good as pro evo 4/3/2/1 ISS pro 2/1 or just plain old evolution. The difference was i enjoyed plasying those games.
Mark H. gave it a5: I have played on all previous versions of this game and I have to say, sadly this is by far the worse of them, when considered along side the previous version. The referee decisions are so extraordinarily bad and inconsistent to both teams that it nearly makes the game unplayable. A big disappointment from the best football series available. Buy previous versions on platinum.
Danny T. gave it a10: this is the best footy game i think iv eva played. i woz a big fifa fan for many a year until i played pro evo at a mates house and went and bought it the next day. so naturally i woz there on release day to get my copy of pro evo 5 and i wasnt disappointed. the level of realism is amazing and im just waiting for a pro evo on da xbox 360 now.

A lot of the loopholes in the previous version have been checked like the easy scoring from corners and crosses/headers, passive goalkeepers e.t.c I'v still not played so many games yet, but as a rabid fan in the series i'm certain this is the best footy sim out there.
Ammego gave it a6: Too hard to score, really annoying niggly fouls, slow gameplay, no fans in stadium during gameplay, ludicrous refereeing decisions. Bring back Pro Evo 4!!
Barry S. gave it a4: I'm a huge Pro Evo fan, have owned every incarnation of the game since its ISS beginnings, and this is the biggest disappointment imaginable. I'd like to know how so many people can be delighted with this game when the game is constantly stopped by niggly fouls when you haven't even pressed a button, and when you don't assume control of your player until the ball reaches his feet. Ludicrous. This results in so many occasions where the ball goes out, or straight to a computer player because you cannot run towards it. the players also move in a ridiculous manner with the ball, as if they can only turn in 4 directions. I find it almost unplayable. Fair play to the reviewer at XBM for being one of the few to have the balls to say that the Emperor is not wearing any clothes.

ipfreely four gave it a5: Pro evo 5 is a good game if not a little flawed still better then the fifa series but not enough improvemnts to warrant a FULL priced purchuse , when pro evo 4 is so cheap an still the better of the 2 IMO my advice wait for it to go platnium.

I have played competitive football for 25 years and have a level 3 F.A coaching qualification; this is the most realistic incarnation of the beautiful game ever made. I have been a MASSIVE football game fan since the dawn of the genre :Pele's soccer (Atari 2600), International Soccer (Commodore 64), Kick off 2 (Amiga), Sensible Soccer (Amiga), International Superstar Soccer (Snes), ISS (N64) have all been leaders of the genre in their day, and PES 5 is the best of the series, END OF ARGUMENT. To say that PES 4 was better is ridiculous and downright incorrect. Learn to play the best sports game EVER, and stop crying.
See P. gave it a9: To truly enjoy this game, you need to have played football for real. only then will you realise how realistic it is to the real thing. people who say its too hard, then i advise you to get Fifa. but for true gamers pes is the genuine article! class act from konami!

If you want an arcade experience with bags of 35yarders try FIFA 06 - however, if you want a football simulation that plays and acts like real football then PES is for you. Its unparalleled in all aspects of realism and playability. It expands on all the +ives in PES 4 and then add some. Dont listen to those who say this game is bad - any true football fan will tell you this game is unbelievable!

Raoul B gave it a9: This game is spot on the best football-sim in history. The gameplay is so finely balanced and tuned... an excellent series simply got more excellent. Contrary to some, I believe the game IS better than PES4. It simply feels even more realistic: the way you have to gain control over the ball, the way you can tackle your oponents. Two or more human players on one team is a blast, as allways, but in my mate's experience and mine, it requires even more insight in the reallife sport. Big thumbs up!
Daz gave it a10: Better than pro 4 because you acn now play a league without having to be a manager as well (like in the master league). The refs are tougher in this game (perhaps too tough) but this is still better than pro 4.
