DEL gave it a10: Border Down makes the previous Darius games seem almost unplayable. A modern thinking man's shoot'em up, programmed by Masters, involving old school memorization and new scoring engine, small hitbox & border composition affecting score and 4 different end stages: 6A, B, C & D. Edge magazine mentioned that it doesn't get hectic - wrong! - It does if you're playing it properly for a 1 credit completion (1CC) from a Red border start. Regs.
Kurisu S. gave it a6: OK, its nothing groundbreaking, but it does what it does well and cleanly. Check out level 3, the meteor belt; the level guardians are so wonderful. It also was a 'feel good' factor to when you play it. The music is fairly nice too. Graphically its wonderful, especially the torus space station and the meteor belt.
Fighter17 gave it a 9: No power-ups, no problem, everything else in this game is good. Give it a try.
Noel L. gave it a 10: Very good game !
Tim gave it a 10: Yes. Innovative, pretty, and addictive.
Berry B. gave it a 10: Absolutely the best Shooter ever seen.
Riptor X gave it a 10: Wow, one of the greatest DC Shumps ever released! An excellent game!
Tec S. gave it a 10: An incredibly impressive shooter that ooses quality, cleverly layed out attack waves and music (which is fantastic) really sets the mood. The programmers have definitely had inspiration from the likes of Gradius, Darius and R-Type so if you like the previously mentioned games you WILL love Border Down. Worthy to be added to the all time hall of fame of shooters.
Sotiris T. gave it a 10: A realy great game. One of the best shooters ever made... The game's graphics are based on the Naomi platform and are realy great. The controls are very easy to use. The only problem is that it is a little difficult as an arcade game... If you like shooters and a you are Dreamcast hardcore fan YOU NEED THIS GAME... Nintendo&SEGA RULES PS2 SUCKS
Daniel D. gave it a 10: Excellent rendition of the R-Type formula with a gameplay built like Radiant Silvergun. The Border gameplay system is quit unique and changes the levels around so it is like a different level each time played (ala Diablo). Also the super lazer which counteracts huge boss blasts creates superb special effects. Game has silky smooth presenatation (ala Ikaruga). The dreamcast is becoming a legend in 2003 due to the third party support it is receiving lately. Shooters are making a huge stance kind of like the way Sega Saturn became. With Border Down and IKaruga along with King of Fighter series this console is receiving alot of love. 2004 begins us Psyvariar 2 and The Castle of Shikigami 2. If you don't have a Dreamcast an excellent one can be found on ebay for around $50.00. Get one and ensure it eas manufactured prior to November 2000 so you can get a boot disk to play imports (ala DC-X gameshark, etc) and buy these games their gameplay is exceeding many titles the other consoles are throwing at us.
Grave gun gave it a 10: I got this game from suprnva.org for free better have broadband.
John S. gave it a 10: This is the best game I have every played in my whole life this is one of the reasons why dreamcast shoud of lasted longer, and by the way ps2 sucks.
