The average user rating for this Game is 9.0 out of 10 (based on 240 Votes).
Ack Tar gave it a10: This game is a clear improvement over SSB64 and is actually better than its successor, Brawl. It is an intricate fighter that can be played at either a casual or competitive level with great enjoyment. The controls are spot-on, and it can be as deep as you want it. Truly the best GCN game, and it is the one that is still playable almost seven years later.
CommandoDude gave it a7: Speaking from a game viewpoint, this definately impoved over the First super smash. More characters/maps, better graphics, and interesting quirks. Unfortunately, the complex controller of the Nintentdo Gamecube ruined this game for me, the reason why I rate this a 7. Anyone who doesn't mind the Gamecube controller will like this game, anyone who doesn't, well, don't bother.
Jack H. gave it a10: Believe it or not, but this was my very first game (I was 7). And, not only was it my first game, but it is my favorite game on the Cube to this day. Possibly the best part of the game is that it never gets old. It is just that addictive. If you gave this game less than a 9, you need to see a doctor.
Sam E. gave it a10: SSBM is the best game I ever played, plus I played it ever since I was 3 or 4. I play it every day. I'm only nine and I can beat lv nines. Its a enertaining game too. I wish I got some cheats though. But that dosn't matter. Well thats it, keep up the good work nitendo.
Cody R. gave it a10: This is a phenomenal game! It's a fast paced fighter with loads of depth. as of 2/28/08 I still find the graphics to be superb (look at big blue!) With an immense roster and greatly detailed stages this game is a must!
Brian yehhhh gave it a10: People that dont like the game just suck at it and have nobody to play with. Its a great game and has been since its release.
seth f gave it a10: This is the best damn game in the world and should be on the video game awards even tho it is a very old game but nothing beats this game not even halo 3 and yes a just burent halo 3
Mike G gave it a0: Overrated crap. No storyline involvement at all. It's hack and slash gameplay is horribly repetitive, and the game relies on this battle system. The gaming world is a horrible place for this game to be rated at even a B level.
Jan C. gave it a10: this is one of the best games... the multiplayer is simply amazing and the single player mode is really awesome... but the best thing is the wide range of posibilities of making tournaments with friends, and including that is one of the most played games in tournaments etc.
William gave it a10: This is my favourite game of all time. It is quick and easy to pick up and play, but also deep and difficult to master. There's no fancy storyline or cut-scenes. This is 100% gameplay. For beginners it is just a bit of quick and easy fun, but for experts the matches can be intense and very skill-demanding. If it wasn't for the eminent release of Super Smash Brothers: Brawl, I'd say that it's worth buying a Gamecube for this game alone.
Jared C. gave it a5: The good news is that the gameplay is immense and the variety of characters is phenomenal as each brilliantly designed individual has their own equivalent share of combating principles, which was wonderful to expect. But the bad news ruins it all, although the gameplay was fine, each level seemed so rushed and with all the characters fighting in one woozy rushed place, Melee has nothing to give except chaos.
Chris C. gave it a9: This is such a great game. It's so much fun that I still play it 6 years later. But that's just the thing that's holding me back from giving it a 10. I'm still playing it 6 years later. It's just so dated, and everything about that game seems tiresome, probably because I just want the new features in Brawl already. Also looking farther into it, the clone characters really don't do much, and are just wasted space. Also a majority of the stages, while being fun to play on, are just tiresome. Don't get me wrong, it really is an amazing game. I'm just sick of it, all around.
Pete C. gave it a10: OMG immense fun! me and my family would get together and play it. The diversity of characters was great. The time to unlock was long but worth it. Massive step up from orginial. Inventive items. Hope Brawl is as awesome as this one.
Chris M. gave it a10: Best game, ever completely addictive and not at all just a kids game, anyone who says this is a button bashing game shouldnt really leave a comment as they dont know how to play it, takes a lot of skill and definitely underrated.
Titanium D. gave it a10: This is the best fighting game ever made. Its single player mode is entertaining, its multiplayer mode is endless hours of fun, it has enough stages and characters to make for an excellent game, and overall it has among the highest potential game hour value of any game. It is a ton of fun and anyone, ranging from the casual gamer to the hardcore fighter genre lover will adore this game's excellent gameplay and difficulty level. This is the best game for the gamecube by far and away, and if you own a gamecube you should possess this game.
Matt D. gave it a10: Amazing game with excellent replay value.
Ben F. gave it a10: The greatest action game with the longest lifespan EVER!! it never gets boring, and takes ages to complete everything there is to do in the game. the amount of match awards is near endless but just one problem. pichu sucks! they should have put in a better pokemon like charmander or something. if they replaced pichu this game would be perfect!
Moe J. gave it an8: Such a fun game with a huge selection of Nintendo characters, and much more levels than the first Smash Bros.
Patrick gave it a10: The greatest fighting game I've ever played.
Christopher A. gave it a10: Whenever I'm with my friends and we have nothing to do, Melee is always there. No one argues when I recommend we play it - ever. It has more freedom than any fighter ever made. And who can argue with 25 characters and 29 stages, all from Nintendo's storied past?
Jonny L. gave it a9: This is a great game with a great variety of characters. I loved it.
Adam F. gave it a10: This game just DOESN'T GET OLD!!! No matter how much I play it, alone or in a party, no matter what I do, and no matter if I've mastered every character, it STILL won't get boring. SSBB is a solid gold game; Every layer of the gameplay reaches a level of perfection that completely eliminates all possibility of bordom. Everyone must play this one.
A K gave it a10: This game IS amazing, ISN'T overrated, and DOESN'T look like it's from the NES. I have had the gamecube for 5 years now and SSBM was one of my first games. I still play it to this day. I am porbably only 60% of the way through. It really is easy to learn, hard to master. ie. wavedashing, advanced shielding, etc... It has probably the most replay value out of any other game. the controls are made so that it is very easy to use as a beginner, and to use as a master. Anyone who says this game is bad, probably doesn't have a brain. BTW, the graphics and amount of characters are awesome.
Andrew C. gave it a9: Talk about ultimate replay value! Over 5 years old and I still play this game. It's so easy to learn and so tough to totally master that it demands to be played. The Nintendo GameCube's ultimate must-have multiplayer game!
Dean K. gave it a10: First game I have ever played for Gamecube and liked playing it every since, must buy for any Gamecube owner
Jason T. gave it a9: Don't believe anyone who says this game is childish just because it feature nintendo characters. So what if there's no blood, and the characters are not mature-based fighters from tekken or any other series? This is one of the best fighting game series ever. It's one of the best multiplayer fragfests, and even single player is fun with hours worth of unlockable characters, levels, trophies, minigames, gameplay modes and items. what other fighting game can let you grab a bomb-omb to thro at your opponent when he has the upperhand? Like with Mario Kart, Nintendo takes a genre of games (sports, adventure, racing ,fighting) and adds all of the Nintendo innovation to make that genre even more creative. Nintendo doesn't always mean mature, but it almost always means fun, and SSBM proves that with the best selling game cube game ever.
Eric S. gave it a7: Pretty good. Very repetitive but still fun. Best part is owning all your friends at it (with all the creap moves).
April B. gave it a10: This is the best game ever you can piay as kirby and jiggy puff! You have got to buy this game.
Danny T. gave it a10: One of the best fighting games ever made. Don't worry about those people who claim that it's not a real fighting game like their Street Fighter, or DOA, etc. I have mastered all kinds of fighting games over the years, but this game is the definition of "Easy to learn, difficult to master." All of the secret fighting techniques you must learn to become a SSBM elite are beyond subtle, and only come with months to years of practice. Anyone who claims to be an elite player amoung fighting games, but cannot grasp the depth and skill this game requires is truly fooling themselves.
Michael F. gave it a10: This is not a game you get bored from after 6 years. the gameplay is abnormally great especially for a fighting game. i don't know why bad reviews were put, but this is a real and pure definition of great games. the trophy system makes it last and its multiplayer is good, not to mention the fact that you can have your own tournament of up to 64 players and melee mode which is up to 4. you can complete many modes each one holding a special rare trophy in the game. if you aim for all the trophies, this game could last 3-4 years!
Ujpup ip gave it a10: Best game for a Cube, very deep and hard if you plan to learn all the advances techniques: Wavedash, shfflc..etc.. a kis can play it and have fun, an adult can play it and discover all its deep and spend hours training to become the very best, yu need fast fingers and a fast mind to be good (except if you play bowser xD)
R. D. gave it a10: Thought by many to be one of the deepest fighters ever created, SSBM is a game that fits the cliche 'simple to learn, hard to master'. The game offers a wide variety of characters and levels. The single player modes offer a variety of interesting challenges but the games main draw is the ability to support up to four players in various versus combat modes.
Michael K. gave it a10: im jus gonna point this out: SSBM is one of the deepest, most creative, and funest game i hav ever played. the single player is extremely good and the multiplayer is legendary. seriously if anyone remembers Goldeneye for the n64's multiplayer, SSBM is better then that. my freinds and i play it non-stop for hours on end and were all 19. if u dont like this game u r definately a tekkenhead or a virtua fighter junkie cause u jus luv ur fighter complicated and not very fun. SSBM is a game for anyone young 7 year olds to grandparents.
Ian T. gave it a2: If you're a child, or get beaten by children on real fighters (DOA, Soul Calibur, Tekken, Killer Instinct) then you will enjoy this button masher fest. If you always destroy your friends in real fighters, then play this one with them, they will actually have a chance.
Mike M. gave it a6: If you liked the first one, and are still somehow amazed how Nintendo constantly rehashes it's IP's over and over and over...you'll like this one. Visuals & audio are of course much better than the first. Can't tell where the heck you are or what you're doing. (Ritalin indeed ;)) A simplistic, flawed and uninteresting concept brought into the 21st century. But the kids seem to really dig it from my observations.
Derek E. gave it a10: This game is absolutely incredible. At first it started out as the most fun I'd ever had playing a fighting game.... but, then as you realize just how complex the game play can get when you integrate some of the secret, upper tier moves it becomes something different entirely. Seriously, if you own this game and haven't figured out the wavedashing, short hopping, and L-cancel (etc.) moves... do yourself a favor and google it. It transforms the game and takes it to an incredible level.... it's now possibly my favorite game of all time. I mean, I have had this for years and I still play it with friends at least 3 times a week.
[Anonymous] gave it a10: It is so awesome. I play it for hours on end. it is better than Super Smash Bros #1. Mainly because of the great graphics, courses and players.
Eddie E. gave it a10: I bought SSBM as the first game on my Gamecube. Although I have bought several other games for my system, I still believe that SSBM is extremely better than any game I have purchased. To this day I still play this game on an almost daily basis.
Agustin O. gave it a10: This game kept me entertain for yours if you dont get this game then you miss on an opportunity a hours of fun, and if this game sucks so much then how come its been on one of the top game for gamecube for the past couple of years?
Justin B. gave it a10: There is a reason this game has remained one of the top selling GameCube titles for years, and if you haven't played it, you owe it to yourself to find a way.
The Elusive Possom gave it a10: There just isn't an argument if you try and suggest that this isn't the best game ever on any console, bar perhaps Zelda. The graphics, given the madcap action, are superb. There's a wealth of characters from Nintendo's past to knock about, and even more to unlock. The stages are varied and imaginative. The game offers a real challenge to veterans (try the Wire Frame challenge on Cruel Melee mode and last more than 10 seconds...) but at the same time anyone can pick it up. The soundtrack features remixes of classic Ninty choons, and it offers the best multiplayer experience of any game ever. In fact, the only negative comments of other users seem to refer to either the game being too childish (although I can't see an 8-year old playing Resi 4 quite yet) or referring to a different game entirely (poor Dante). Simply smashing.
david m. gave it a9: This game = fun.
Andy E. gave it a9: Well I rule this game with Young Link and finished it in less than a month... I got all trophies too, well It's a little short really...
T. D. gave it an8: The game is great there is plenty of action and the grafics are great but after a while it gets a little boring.
Ben W. gave it a10: AWESOME!!! WAY COOL!!! KICKS BUTT!!! Got it 1 and a half years ago and I still have fun playing it. Best GCN game ever invented. The graphics rules. When you smash some one into oblivion it looks amazing. The action is non-stop. I was addicted when I got it for Christmas. Just...... AMAZING. Way better than N64 version!! Way to go Nintendo.... way to go.
Geckat gave it a10: No one in their right minds could give this any lower than 10. I know people who despise everything about Nintendo, about GameCube, but they'd just as rather play this as Halo. It's infinite, and I mean that. Every single GCN owner in the entire world should own this game, because of the fact that it appeals to anyone. It becomes a bit easy after beating it for the first time, but playing with your friends or just goofing off - those'll give you memories. Who needs trampolines and treehouses???
Yoshii r0x gave it a10: Played this a couple of years - still has new challenges.
Dylan C-B gave it a7: I give it 7 because i got good at it quik i got everything in 1 month and im the best who has ever lived!espacialy with sheik...but its to easy very hard done allstar every charecter
Jon L. gave it a10: Best GameCube game ever.
Nick S. gave it a10: Action-packed adventure. The fun never stops. If you've played GameCube for awhile you'll know the characters.
Kevin H. gave it a10: Years after the game has come out, I always find myself going back and playing it. This is the kind of game that never runs out of play value.
Nid d gave it a10: Best game ever.
Connor M. gave it a10: I've spent over 100,000 hours playing this, and am only at 83% completion. Thank go for HAL. 25 charecters, a carpload of trophys to unlock, tons of stages, and a lovable soundtrack. Graphics, heck, it was started in 1999 or something, so their not the best, but the explosion effects and the comic style action keep it up to par. You can keep track of your battle records, like how many times you've V.S.ed a particular charecter and how much damage yo've inflicted/taken, deaths, K.O.s, E.T.C It also tells you how far you've ran, walked, jumped, how long you've played, the nuber of trophys you have. You can compair your status with other users on the memory card or another card, and have all of the U.Ns ranked in the top five for every catagory, hit percentage, coins gained, E.T.C dozens of multiplayer modes (Slow-mo, sudden death, giant mode) a ton of items to harass your opponets with, (hammer, a light gun, bats, fire flowers) and a mode where you can take pictures of your favorite charecter in action to show to your friends! If only there was online and customizable charecters...
DemonicAngel gave it a9: First off, let's get one thing out of the way. Don't even bother with the single-player. This is a multiplayer game through and through, and whilst it's commendable that the developers came up with modes to keep lone gamers happy, they can't compare to the sheer insane joy of 4 players smacking each other around with crazy special moves. Controls are simple to learn but it'll take some time to become really good at the game. All the characters control differently and have different strenghts and weaknesses. Samus Aran, for example, is powerful and has plenty of ranged attacks, but her bulky armoured suit slows her down. Captain Falcon, on the other hand, is very speedy and has great hand-to-hand combat skills, but can be tricky to control and has no ranged attacks. Everyone will find one or two characters they prefer, but they're all good in one way or another (except the horrible Ice Climbers... *shudder*). Overall, an immensely fun multiplayer experience that would make an ideal party game.
Zachary M. gave it a 10: As my opinion I think its the best game since super mario bros. Smash bros. is alot of games put into one. Much better than the first.
Dragon Knight of Final Fantasy gave it a 9: This is a masterpiece of a GC game it is easy to pick up and play it has all your favorite Nintendo characters (well not all of them Wario would've been a nice addition) it has a lot of trophies you'll love to collect. Fun frantic multiplayer is the best thing about SSBM and all the power-ups makes the game even better. It is awesome and fun and frantic yet somewtimes it gets a little too frantic and you havre no idea what's going on until it's too late. This is a fun game get this now!
[Anonymous] gave it a 10: How can you not love this game? i cant think of one bad thing about it.
Igor F. Moreda A. gave it a 10: I bought it with the Game Cube years ago, I still have not openned all trophies. Long for 1 player and the perfect game for multiplayer.
Nathan T. gave it a 9: Good game....at first gets boring on one player, BUT this game was made for multi player and thats y i give it the 9. sure it gets repetitive, but there are so many different modes, like super sudden death, and then u can change items to only bombs. it gets crazy fast neways my point is its a very good multiplayer game. not the best single player game so ill stick to my zleda for that.... its a must have for gamecube owners with friends.
Daniel M. gave it a 9: So much fun to play, 10 out of 10 for multiplayer.
Hooded Justice gave it a 10: One of the best games ever. High replay value.
Brendan O. gave it a 10: Hours of fun!
David C. gave it a 10: I had the Game Cube since it came out and I hadn't played in a while... but lately I've been playing SSBM (first game I got for the system) frequently. You always want to play it because of all the ways you can do harm to the other players (and you always want to try out every one of them). The sound and graphics are very good with the fact that it was one of the first GC games. I don't like the one player mode very much, but it's a whole lot better than the one they had on the 64 version.
Chris G. gave it a 10: Awesom game! I love all the new and old characters. Can't put the controller down! Recommended for anyone with a Gamecube!
Clel J. gave it a 10: Very addictive, I still play the game even though I got it when it first came out! The gameplay is great, you can run around, bomb people, dodge explosions! This game fits just about anyone
Jimmy F. gave it a 10: Really cool!!!! I use fox all the time!!!!
Evil Furby!!! gave it a 10: Forget the T rating! I have played it many times, though I rarley win in Bonus. I have every single character, and this is very nice. So, you want somebody that's in Melee only? Complete the challenge and watch them pop up one by one. I like the sound test. Now we can hear Kirby scream!
Matt P. gave it a 10: A suprisingly simple game to pick up and play and even beat, but conquering the computer is easy part: playing against skilled competators is the difficult part. It expands the already great original an doesn't leave anything out. A must have.
Dj bs gave it a 10: This game is the bomb, literaly.you use bombs and blow up each other. no blood so dont get grossed out but it is preaty cool.it actually great. ssbm rules suckers!
Danny R. gave it a 10: This game never gets repetitive when you play on a tournament. You should try one on your own.If you don't have one Ill give you one.Try doing a fire tournament. You should have all fire items. The only two stages you should have is (jungle japes) and (congo jungle n64).The only characters you should have is the ones who have red costumes and they do fire moves.I kick ass with kirby. This game is great!!!kirby kirby kirby!!!!
James J gave it a 10: This game is great its possibly the best game ever i have every character and the only things left to do is to get 10 trophies and do events 50 51 and the space travelers one i had to play 700 vs matches to get mewtwo.
Dark M. gave it a 10: This game is awesome. All of the levels are neat. I like the music. I whoop every one's oss with Mario. With Mario, I beat the coins out of everyone. >Get it?!
Jackie N. gave it a 10: If I could say higher then 10 I would! This is one of the best games I've ever played, I can't wait until I have my own gamecube so I won't have to go to my BFF's house and play it!!!!!!!!!!
Mohsin B. gave it a 10: I love this game.here is a cheat with falco use the up c move near a person is 90% and up and it will send the person flying in the air getting KOed. P.S S.S.B.M. rocks and the rating is infinite and beyond.
The One formerly known as: Tomek gave it a 10: The ultimate four-player fighting game with unpredictable action and non-stop animated onslaughts features over 20 characters to choose from, including Mario, Yoshi, Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon, Ice Climber, Ness, Kirby, Pikachu, Tomek, Mattnorexia, Fox McCloud and Samus. [The One formerly known as Tomek]
Ryan M. gave it a 10: Unbelievable. Not just a fighter, not just a multiplayer game. This game has everything. It has those classic characters and so many different styles. So much to unlock, and above all, great multiplayer fun. This game has a lot of innovation. I can understand how people may not like it, but there's has to be the perfect character for someone, and whoever you are, I know you can squeeze a little bit of fun from this insane party game. And always remember, graphics don't always matter.
Mark T. gave it a 9: Some reviews I have read said this game was for little kids. I guess you didn't catch the T-Rating and the fact that the objective is to Knock Out the opponent, did you? Super Smash Brothers Melee is a great Nintendo fighter featuring Nintendo's famous exclusive characters. (mostly, at least). And these characters are very different from one another and fight differently. And the enemy A.I. can be adjusted to 9 different levels, too. I loved the insane action and how some many things could happen onscreen without any slowdown. I wished that there was more interacting between backgrounds and characters, however, and that sometimes it gets zoomed out too far. The game also had other "minigame" style gameplay. Event mode was a nice touch, a fun way to unlock characters and cool-but-not-required trophies, but sometimes the difficulty is insanely hard. Luckily this doesn't affect the mainstream game. Super Smash is full of tiny features, from trophies to the Lottery to an index for bonus boints that you get at the end of a battle. This combined with awesome 2-4 player and 1 player that isn't bad either, makes SSB:M a great buy.
Tommy G. gave it a 10: It takes a great games company to pull something off as good as this and i salute nintendo for a gaming masterpiece with hours of replay value.
Dave B. gave it a 5: This game is only for the really young gamecube players. This game sucks! But it's by Nintendo, so it's still 10 times better than 95% of the games out there for PS2 and X-Box. So I gave it a 5.
Patrick H. gave it a 9: Could've been better, i wish gannondorf was able to become gannon.
Soul Calibur 2 gave it a 9: This is a great game and all, but is does tend to get slightly repetive after a while, even with its new characters and new stages. I find that once you get new games, your attention slides away from it. Still, great game!...Oh, and Kong, I have one thing to say to you, you are a cow.
[Anonymous] gave it a 1: This game was so dull i slept while i played it. I hate these characters. This game is for little kids and im 8! It was pretty pathetic. Nothing new. Dont worry, your not missing anything. Its pretty sad, this game is like a fairy tale! Sucked
Josh gave it a 10: Great game, A LOT better than the first one, great new modes and stuff. BUY IT!!
[Anonymous] gave it a 10: It's an easy game to pick up and play, but very difficult to beat. It has great graphics and has very good balance as there is definitely a different strategy for every character yet it is not a serious fighter where you're constantly worried about skillfully countering your opponent's favorite combo.
Luis R. gave it a 10: This game is so awesome that I can't get enough of this excitment of this game I should rate it 14. It has so much stuf like trophies, diffrent N64 characters, stages, and many more. My favorite of all is Shiek I will also recomend that anyone that has or will get a Gamecube I will tell them try Super Smash Bros. Melee you will love it.
Grace B. gave it a 10: This game is INCREDIBLE!!!!!! It has awesome graphics, players, EVERYTHING!!!!!
Mongose Baldwin gave it a 9: It's the best game ever.
Carlos A. gave it a 10: Well first of all Kong is a FOB,i know that dude and he loves to say crap about the good games that NINTENDO brings out, same for the other people that write stuff with out any proof. This is a great graphically speaking game, with great characters, cool secrets and a SUPER FUN multiplayer option!!So dont believe the people like KONG who are ignorant and negative.Any way this is a game worth buying, theres a lot to do,many options,i just personally think that Wario was missing:(, but its an awesome game!!!!
[Anonymous] gave it a 9: Fun! plus i have a little brother.
[Anonymous] gave it a 9: I thought it was one of the best games although I think the and girls and guys in the game should haved gained strength because i use one guy manley (link) and nothing ever happens to him that makes him stronger or more defensive (and exsedera)
Kong gave it a 4: This game was sooo horrible ... the controls sucked and didnt even try to improve over its predecessor. All this game is is SSM with better graphics ... It just sucked ... unless your 8 and have a Pikachu or link fetish.
Marc P. gave it a 10: Simply the best in four player fighting. This game was everything I expected and more - I really loved the first, but this game beat it out easy. I like the length increase especially.
Matthew S. gave it a 10: Super Smash Bros for the N64 was an awesome 4 player fighting game. The concept was simple, you choose a Nintendo character and duke it out against as many as 3 other Nintendo characters in one of several Nintendo inspired arenas. I didnt think Nintendo could improve on the game but I was wrong. In Super Smash Bros Melee you have 14 characters from the start and when you unlock them all you have a total of 25. The character roster includes crowd favorites such as Mario, Link, Samus and Fox and less known characters like The Ice Climbers. You can even unlock two characters from the japan only Fire Emblem series of strategy games. The arenas include the roof of Peach's Castle, the wings of The Great Fox and the depths of Brinstar. The game features numerous game types and variations including Giant Melee, Tiny Melee, Invisible Melee and Slo Mo Melee. You can also earn trophies as you play through the game. There are 290 trophies in all that range from games all through Nintendo's history. Overall SSBM is a flawless fighting game. I give it a perfect 10.
Yoyoyo I gave it a 10: This game like so totaly rocks. there are hours of limitless fun.the graphiccs, characters, camera, sound, and quality are all top grade!
Siby J. gave it a 10: This game is really reallly fun when you have all your friends over. I wouldn't have gotten the gamecube if this game wasn't coming out. It's that good.
Joshua K. gave it a 10: I have this game it is so fun, everyone should have it.
Doug M. gave it a 10: The best game on the Gamecube and one of my favorites of all time, this game never gets boring and you can always just pick it up and play. The real fun lies in multiplayer modes obviously.
Matthew S. gave it a 10: Very and I mean Very cool. If you do not have this game you have to get it.
[Anonymous] gave it a 6: I played this game for a short while and totally lost interest. All the Nintendo characters were great but the gameplay just wasn't interesting in single player mode. If I have four people over to play games, I'm sure I'll break it out but for now it's all about Zelda and waiting for SC 2.
Cheesey M. gave it a 10: A stroke of pure genious from the all seeing Miyamato!
Cal M. gave it a 10: This games is sweet.
Marik gave it a 10: Daniel T. you're totally right, man. This is THE BEST GAME EVER MADE.
Aseef Raihan gave it a 10: A really cool game!!!
Shawn T. gave it a 5: It was the best game ever...then the worst game ever so i gave it a 5.
Michelle P. gave it a 10: YAY! An updated version of the original that's even BETTER! The graphics, levels, challenges, and new characters. This is a great game to have at a party.
Andrew C. gave it a 10: The best fighting game of all time! I mean it! The only way to top this one is to make Super Smash bros. 3 with more characters. Great when you have lots of friends!
[Anonymous] gave it a 7: This game is the bomb at first, but can get really boring after you've unlocked all the characters and levels. Still, you can have a great time playing it w/ friends.
Mark Q. gave it a 3: Quite possibly the most overrated game ever. Is it that Gamecube owners are so desperate for games that they inflate grades for the ones they do have? There is 0 depth and the game gets old very, very fast.
Melee Master gave it a 10: This is the single best game you can buy for the cube. If you thought SSBM was good on the 64 you ain't seen nothing yet!
Ziggy Stardust gave it a 10: At 1st I thought it was a button masher fighting game. But upon further examination, it isn't. The controls may be simple, but mastering them is definately a challenge. Multi player is probably some of the most fun to be had on the gamecube. It also has detailed stat tracking. So you can see how you stack up against your friends in numerous categories. Excellent fun.
Vipersniper [HF] gave it a 10: All you who hate this game... Take a pill! The ones of us who actually USE the thing we have upon our necks like this game. The reason i give it ten: IT RULES YOU MORONS!
Saiyuki gave it an 8: This game is just freakin' fun , especially with a bunch of friends. I mean beating the crap out of your friends was never so much fun!! Some of the levels are annoying (like Samus' stage, Stupid lava), but other than that, this game is a true classic brawl, and I love it!! ;)
Logan K. gave it a 10: The perfect party game. Just get a group of people together and you can play for hours and hours. I noticed that other people have said that multiplayer get old real fast... well that is just not true. If your a good player and know what your doing, then it stays fun. The only thing that is wrong about this game is the 1 player mode. That can gett tedious. But for multiplayer action, this is awesome!
Bruce C. gave it a 9: I found this game to be superb! This is quite a step from the original, in terms of gameplay and the amount of options that are featured. Even the 1 player modes are decent. The camera angles are great giving you a large area to see, and the graphics are what you would expect from gamecube. Although there was one problem I found with the sound, it seemed to get repetitive and somewhat aggrevating. Overall, this is one of the best multiplayer party games to date!
[Anonymous] gave it a 9: This game never gets old. You can beat the game, but keep playing. But one thing is that it bugs the hell out of you that you can't beat one part of it. (Well, actually, thats every game.)
Joe gave it a 9: If it were not for some of the crappy camera angles this game would of gotten a ten.
Matt R. gave it a 5: This game is just... boring. It's kinda fun with friends, but it gets old very, very fast. The whole thing feels put together by a kid who forgot to take his Ritalin, and the "secrets" are so lame they aren't worth unlocking. I really tried to like this one, but I much prefer Virtua Fighter 4.
M. M. gave it a 9: This game rocks! I like Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64 but this game is even better. How can some of you give this game a zero? It's the best, and I hope you don't forget it or your going to regret it. Rent this game, it's the best!!! Don't listen to the other morons who say its not.
B. S. gave it an 8: How can you rate this game a zero stupid nerds with nothing better to do than bitch about a game that's good! one kick ass game play as mario and all the rest from the first version with new charaters modes, and of course bosses going on the net is kewl.
John G. gave it a 0: It's utter crap, not smooth in gameplay. Graphics could be alot better animation wise, very jerky. 2 Player crap. Don't get me wrong I own a gamecube and am a fan but not of this game!
[Anonymous] gave it a 9: Really good game, one of my favourites but gets boring after several months.
Matthew L. gave it a 9: This is one game that can only be described as genius. it is a fantastic idea that has been executed perfectly. I would have given a perfect score if the game was slightly longer. The replay value comes from trying to beat your previous time.
Ben J. gave it a 10: Amazing gameplay and visuals from fighting Giga Bowser to the patch on Mario's overalls. For the people buying it, you'll get a game with over 100 hours of amusement and 500 hours of partying with your friends.
Greg S. gave it a 9: It's bigger, better and badder than the original. Not onloy has the amount of everytihng increased tenfold but signifigant improvements in the single player have been implemented. A must for all gamecube owners!
Geo M. gave it a 10: Great multiplayer, and single player is much improved from old version. Only get if you have friends to play with. Only good game for Gamecube out so far.
Little Bill gave it a 0: Wut r those guys talking about this game is the wurst its all choppy and the guys look strait from nes do not buy this game dont even rent it.

Link gave it a 10: God this game is good! The adventure mode looks great! Me & my friends can't wait for the release in australia!
Braden B. gave it a 10: This game is great! There are so many characters that you almost never get bored. P.S. Dante you are a dumbass.
Rob C. gave it a 10: The Best game that has all nintendo's charachters.
Beavarius gave it a 10: Hey, Dante, I can assure there is no talking to people or opening doors, I think you have the wrong game. Doomas.
[Anonymous] gave it a 10: I LOVE this game! I was begging my parents to let me go to the store and get it.
James K. gave it a 10: Dante thinks this is an RPG game.. o_O
Dante P. gave it a 3: It was boring and unfair. You have to talk to every body and it's too slow when you go through a door.
Bruce C. gave it a 7: As a multiplayer game, it's good - but not as great as some folks say. 8/10 But as a single player game, it's really nothing special. 6/10 Average of 7/10.
[Anonymous] gave it a 10: What`s up? Why do you vote this game so poor Ich.M? WHY, WHY, WHY? are you not my friend?
Christian L. gave it a 10: I THINK this is the best game ever made if you dont rank DIABLO ;) (im a Diablo freak) hehe i said i THINK because i live in DAMN SWEDEN. I WANT GAME CUBE... buuuhuuuhuuu.. a 10 because it's so much fun to unlock so many characters and so many levels.. + a BIG + almost all the nintendo chars are in one fighting game!!! wow... its so cool.
Chibifish gave it a 9: I come from the UK and i haven't even played it, but there is only one word to describe this game-BRILLIANT!!! Bring on the UK release of Gamecube! BRING IT NOW!!!!
Tim-ay Juh-ta-mi gave it a 9: Thankfully, Nintendo left the perfect multi-player aspect of SSB for the n64 alone, and simply tweaked to perfection the single player mode. but i have 2 gripes about Melee. (1)on some of the smaller, more enclosed stages (and there are a good amount of them) the action gets so frenetic that you can't see what the hell is going on. I have been smashed off the stage numerous times because i coulden't see where i was. (2) When playing with your friends, a button-masher can easily destroy you, even if you have mastered the tactics and controls. I have tried it myself; just randomly mashing buttons while fighting, and I won by a pretty hefty margin. But Melee has a whole truckload of pluses on it's side. Smooth graphics, responsive controls, an almost satanic amount of play modes and challenges, an even more satanic amount of things for you too unlock (i swear, all those friggin trophies will take twice as long as all the gaps in THPS2), nice music (cept' for that damn DK rap), diverse charcaters, oh... and samus is there, so that's pretty much a reason alone to buy this game). just my 2 copper pieces.
[Anonymous] gave it a 10: It is great game! You can even earn new characters! It is a great game for people who love a good challenge!
Laurence S. gave it a 10: The game is great because it has all those secret charcters and trophies and the graphics, and the taunts dead funny.
Robin L. gave it a 10: This must be the best game of all time! So good, that everyone MUST have a copy!
[Anonymous] gave it a 10: It has great intense graphics and cool secret characters, and I like how they added new characters.
Ich M. gave it a 3: hobs ned kspüd, ober i find des is a rießen schmorn. AUS UND GUSCH.
Chris gave it a 10: It is the best.
Matthew C. gave it a 10: A great game! If you like Smash Bros. on the N64 you will LOVE this game, a must buy.
d8uv gave it a 10: This is the best game I have EVER owned! If you own the Gamecube, you should be tortured if you don't own this game!
Ethan K. gave it a 10: This game rules! The CPUs are actually tough at nine now!
Joshua B. gave it a 10: It is one of the best games ever, if you want action you'll get it on this game. And I am the friend of Matthew C.
James I. gave it a 0: This game is so stupid!!!
Adam W. gave it a 10: The game rules.
Chris D. gave it a 10: This is undoubtly the best game Nintendo has produced. A lot of other games come close ("Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time," "Rogue Leader," "GoldenEye 007") but they are either not multiplayer or just can't top this game. This is the best in multi-player action on the market. The only bad part about this game are the 3 Past Levels (Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong's place, and Kirby's place, Dream Land), since they didn't include Link's old place, Pikachu's old place...it was slightly disappointing. Also, the secret characters, while very good, were slightly dissapointing. I mean, where's Banjo-Kazzoie? Where's King Dedede? Where's Diddy Kong? Who the heck is Marth and Mr. Game & Watch? These drawbacks, though, are small, and it is still a great game.
HellHaWk POWER gave it a 10: What can I say but F......g A!
Andrew J. F. gave it a 10: I finally killed that wanker fox and his bastard friend.
Chad E. gave it a 10: Could this game be any sweeter?!? The answer...NO WAY!!
Daniel T. gave it a 10: Message to James I.:You are an idiot. If you give it a zero it's kind of obvious that you have never played this game before. Only an idiot would give a zero to one of the best games to this date!! (PS):THIS GAME IS SWEET, Xbox SUCKS!!!
James S. gave it a 10: This is a must buy for the Gamecube with hundreds of secrets to unlock and collect and neverending fun.
Humfry gave it a 10: I can have ganondorf kick pikachu in the groin! U cant get much better than that!
Kyle G. gave it a 10: It's so cool! A must have and its perfect!
Dominik S. gave it a 10: I have not played this game, because I live in Austria. But when I go to the search maschine there comes hundreds of sites about this game. I looked at this site and is this true, I can say only a WORD: PERFECT!!!!!!!!!
Andrew C. gave it a 10: Yes, lets think about this for a second... all 10s, and one 0. Thanks for wrecking the curve, Jimbo. Anyways, yes, this is a seriously cool game, and quite fun. My only regret is not having unlocked Mewtwo yet (500 vs. games? 0.0) Must have for Gamecube.
