In my opinion, this game is overrated. It has its strenghts yes, but I think there's too much weaknesses to call it a 'great' game. The Story is awful. Some half-dead swordmaster is called from the death by the mysterious princess to repair the broken seal between the worlds, eh? May sound interesting, but all you have to do is to kill demons. a LOT of demons. But that's not so bad, 'cause killing demons is where otogi really shines. Graphics are good, and that raikoh guy really kicks ass. There are a lot of combo moves and... well basicly everything you need to "purify" (kill) a demon. There is a wide range of weapons and they all are cool. Then there is the level-up system, which I think is embedded in the game to add a bit of a RPG feeling. Well it fails in that. You can see the difference between level 1 and the MAX level, but that's about it. The environments in the game are really beautiful, but when you are in the halfway in playing, there will be a twist in the plot (I bet its the only one in the whole game), and you will have to play all the levels again, but backwards.Bboring, i'd say. So, you kill demons, kill demons, kill some more, kill a mid-boss, kill demons, kill demons, and what do you have? A final boss of course. The final boss (I don't even remember the bloody things name) is also like the plot, it sucks. He just flashes around the battlefield and changes form until you kill him. Didn't like. Well overall, if you want a game where you don't have to think and kill demons at the same time, then Otogi is you'r choice. But if you'd like a more strategic view to killing things, you should consider something else.

Although the gameplay is very repetitve i can't help but love this game. The sounds are sensual, the colours have such beautiful tones to them and i can't forget the incrediably enchanting voices within it! Its more of a free soul rather than a brutal hack n slash. Simply beautiful.

An overall better play than the second, but impovement is needed in the controls, plot (another "Kill the bad guys already!" plot.) and camera. If it weren't for those flaws, a 9 would have been given but because they exist it still gets an 8. A place in my heart gives it a 10 though, along with anticipation for a third title.

What are you people thinking this is not a great game this game is worth getting a 10 why you may ask because the game play excellent and the graphics are great, hell out great.

Uter gave it a 7:
I only played the demo, but it didn't seem that great. Graphics were okay, gameplay seemed repetitive.

Michael C. gave it an 8:
This game is a lot of fun. While the gameplay isn't real in-depth, it is a quite amusing. And it looks phenomenal.

I think the American should stick to playing to their own game. This game wasn't developed for the Us it was for Asia. Americans will never understand the irony of this game. Thats why all the top 10 games on this website 9 out of 10 is a sport game develop in north america. Z anyone argue with that?

Joshua B. gave it a 9:
It's a mature version of zelda with many rpg properties, the camera is a little difficult cause its controled w/ the left stick and in battles u might not have time to turn the camara.

Guiltyspark 343 gave it a 10:
That other guy has no idea wut hes talking about . ive played the game over and over again and its as smooth as a babys bottom . the fighting is a little repetitive but other than that its a really good game .

Laa L. gave it a 10:
Best hack & slash ever since devil may cry!!

Shawn S. gave it a 9:
hmm...a 9 for this game because because there's too many glitches. For those of you who has the game knows wut i mean.

Michael S. gave it a 10:
Mindboggling presentation and probably the best level design in an action game ever. But beware, the first three stages are a laughibly easy warmup and a poor representation of what the game is. Make sure to keep playing to get to the really interesting and insanely difficult levels.

Rory O. gave it a 4:
The fighting is very redundant.
